About Havana
Havana, in Spanish La Habana, is the largest, capital city, cultural, political and financial center of the Caribbean island of Cuba. It was founded in the 16th century by the Spanish Empire for its strategic location for the conquest of the continent. The city is a walled fort, used to protect the old city. Nowadays, Havana can be divided in three different cities: Habana Vieja, Vedado, and new suburban districts.
While your visit in Havana, you shouldn’t miss the Habana Vieja district, the center of the old city of Havana, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you will find Plaza Vieja, the main core of the local life of Habana Vieja. Other interesting sightseeing are the Fortress San Carlos de la Cabaña, el Capitolio Nacional, The Malecon and the Castle of Tres Reyes del Morro.
